What Will You Do at Mixon Hill?
Help in developing an end-to-end vision, and to see how a logical design will translate into physical Databases, and how the data will flow through the successive stages involved. Candidate will need to be able to address issues of data migration (validation, clean-up and mapping), and will need to understand the importance of data dictionaries.
Manage multiple instances of SQL Server (PROD, TEST, DEV), with responsibility for all activities related to management, administration, performance tuning, and
Coordinate database development and management schemes with staff development resources.
Work with staff development resources to understand data growth needs and create mechanisms and data structures to manage data inflow and outflow efficiently.
Explore future industry data management technologies and trends and ensure the firm is always at the advent of cutting-edge data management tools and trends.
Analyze and interpret hardware specifications and needs.
Work with development resources to design, develop, and test software applications.
Create and maintain test plans and test reports.
Generate design, technical, and user documentation following Systems Engineering and Software Development Lifecycle practices and standards.
Other data management duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What Skills, Education and Experience Do We Require?
SQL Server administration skills (maintenance, performance, always on availability, log shipping, replication, partitioning)
T-SQL expertise (queries, stored procedures, tables, views, etc.)
Data architecture skills (to include analytical and business intelligence data constructs)
Experience with big data tools (Hadoop, etc.)
Familiarity and comfort with ultra-large database constructs and volumes (100+ Terabyte)
Comfort and experience with creating detailed technical documentation around data management.
A Strong Desire to establish and enforce Standards of Best Practice.
