Cost Accountant Job Opening in Middleville, Michigan - The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing business costs associated with materials and products to ensure that standards are accurate, variances are reconciled, and that company profitability can be truthfully and reliably recorded. Responsibilities include support new product/process development activities, managing the cost impact of engineering changes, determination of standard unit costs, variance reporting and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
Works with Manufacturing Engineering to confirm that process changes are implemented and routings are modified in the ERP
Reviews Supplier changes, checking/validating quotes against old costs; prepares cost rollups and modifies cost records when appropriate; enters final costing to the ERP
Reviews actual production output and verifies actual versus expected product costing; submits Engineering Change Orders for sign off on final costing
Prepares rollup of current costs (Material, Labor, Burden rates); makes item cost adjustments and supports annual inventory valuation
Determines variances by reviewing standard versus actual Purchase Price for materials and freight, and earned vs. standard labor
Responds to financial reporting requirements including the monthly Financial Package, standing and ad hoc requirements from the Management Team, and Regulatory requirements; determines detailed requirements, defines the data elements and format required, data source systems and locations
Under direct supervision analyzes actual versus standard costs and prepare reports of variances and conduct simple cost audits.
Prepares analysis of costs, compiling data, preparing and distributing statistical reports for the comparison of costs
The ideal Cost Accountant candidate will possess:
1-3 years general accounting experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or comparable experience
Manufacturing, Costing, Inventory experience
Month end processing, journal entries, and statement review
Excellent computer skills with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office with special emphasis on Excel skills
Oracle or other ERP systems experience a plus
