About the Company:
ARB Midstream () is a Denver based private equity backed, growth-oriented company providing crude oil and gas liquids midstream and marketing/logistics solutions in North America. ARB is building a portfolio of oil and gas assets through innovative acquisitions and greenfield projects. One of their most recent acquisitions was one of a of Gulf Coast crude trading business based in Houston, TX. We are seeking an enthusiastic accountant to immediately assist with a multitude of mid office and back office functions. The firm is entrepreneurial in nature, which will allow the accountant to gain a great deal of exposure to all aspects of the crude trading value chain. This is a highly visible role with exposure to key trading and management personnel.
Position Summary:
Liaison between front, mid, and back office personnel to manage the flow of accurate and timely information between the various groups located in Houston and Denver respectively. Maintains and tracks accurate physical/financial positions, inventories, purchases requiring letter of credits, and AR/AP information. Review product purchase and transportation invoices with schedulers/traders, and work with the accounting department to assist in the preparation of the corresponding invoices and journal entries. Assist the Unit Controller and CFO with the month end closing process, performance reporting, and KPI/scorecard metrics.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain an intimate understanding of crude marketing activity including quality of product, nature of storage and/or transportation, fees, contract pricing, etc
Work closely with the crude marketing scheduler on a daily basis to maintain an understanding of the marketing activity and ensure the accounting records are accurate
Manage the monthly crude marketing settlement process
Analyze hedge account activity and record monthly accounting entries
Prepare monthly inventory reconciliation and WACOG valuation calculation
Prepare revenue and cost of sales accrual for month end accounting
Create and review product and transportation invoices (AR/AP) for crude marketing activity
Track and report inventory, AR/AP balances, and accruals to accounting for month end close
Develop processes and procedures to ensure an accurate & timely accounting month end close
Understand and be able to communicate the results of the crude book to senior management
Become a subject matter expert during the implementation of a CTRM system
Own the data in the CTRM system, recording and reviewing entries
Report ending physical, storage, and financial positions to the controller and CFO on a daily basis
Economic and financial performance reporting on an end of day and weekly basis to the respective stakeholders (Accounting, Traders, Credit, and Risk Management)
Requirements:
2- 5 yrs of revenue accounting in a crude oil marketing and trading position
Accounting degree required. CPA and/or MBA preferred
Strong Excel skills. VBA, Access, and/or SQL skills preferred
CTRM system experience (Allegro, RightAngle, etc). Prior implementation experience preferred
Ability to organize, perform, and prioritize various functions to meet deadlines
Analytical, process and detail oriented, proactive, and able to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and management
Ability to interpret tariff and contract terms
Work Environment / Physical & Mental Requirements:
Jointly reports to Controller and the Manager of Trading & Portfolio Optimization
Based out of Houston, Tx
No relocation is being offered for this position
Expected Travel is 10-20% (Primarily to Denver)
