Senior Java Developer Job Opening in New York, New york - Sports Information Group/ Daily Racing Form (DRF) is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support its growth and success as a multi-channel media company. As a leader in horse racing for over 120 years, the Sr. Java Developer will be an integral part of maintaining and improving the comprehensive online betting platform with a team of IT professionals in New York City.
Primary Responsibilities:
Contributes to overall architecture and design, working closely with Software Architect
Develops web sites and new software using Java development language and tools
Performs coding to written technical specifications and standards.
Works with clients and developers to ensure software builds meet system, functional and performance requirements and adhere to corporate policies such as security and privacy
Participate in the design and planning of enhancements to existing products and development of new products.
Provides estimates for assigned tasks, work efforts and projects.
Keeps current with software development trends, and takes action on IT-related best practices, processes and systems.
Creates and maintains support documentation and standards
Required Background:
Strong Web development (4-5+ years) experience using
Enterprise Java (4 years)
JavaScript, HTML, CSS
Spring
SQL
Experience with Oracle and/or Sybase database development
Strong understanding of the principles of Object Orientation Programming and design
Experience in SCRUM and Agile development methodology
Test Driven Development
Maven, Git
Continuous Integration (Bamboo, Jenkins, etc.)
Must be able to work independently and efficiently within a diverse and fast paced, team-oriented environment.
Media and/or E-commerce back ground
Prior experience developing gaming software preferred

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
