General Staff Accountant Job Opening in Cleveland, Ohio - GENERAL PURPOSE: The General Staff Accountant will be responsible for general ledger management, account reconciliation, cash receipts processing, depreciation and accruals, investment accounting, restricted asset released, collection accounting, and preliminary monthly accounting cycle closing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, profit/loss statements, and accumulative general ledger using a computer-based accounting system.
Perform fixed asset processing and reporting.
Maintain and reconcile bank accounts.
Monitor and maintain reserve accounts and short-term fund investments.
Research and reconcile all discrepancies.
Perform accounts payable and receivables.
Forecast revenue and analyze ledgers.
Auditing and verifying documents.
Report financial information to CEO and Board of Directors.
Ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records on a monthly basis.
Produce financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis.
Research, develop and implement systems to continuously improve the credit unions ability to achieve greater administrative capacity and profitability.
Post monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals.
Prepare and adjust journal entries.
Duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an Accounting or Finance degree and at least 3 years? experience.
MBA or CPA certification is a plus.
Credit Union or Financial Institution experience preferred.
Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Advanced Computer Skills in MS Office.
Accuracy in daily work and other projects.
Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
Ability to maintain good working relationships and function as a team player.
Salary will commensurate with experience.
