Tooling Designer Job Opening in seattle, Washington - Tooling Designer NIC Global, a leading manufacturer of sheet metal and mechanical assemblies, is currently seeking experienced Tooling Designer. To join our team at our Woodinville, WA facility. Our company currently employees approximately 250 employees in three locations. Tooling Designer Job Summary: Perform complex design investigation, analysis, feasibility studies and CAD design for new tools using customer supplied data. Typical tools designed for hard stamping, weld fixtures, assembly fixtures, brake tooling, inspection fixtures, etc. Study specifications and confer with engineering and shop personnel to resolve or improve design issues related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and costs of tool. Evaluate prototypes for tooling design modifications to improve product performance and reliability. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of tool design experience in a manufacturing environment. Mechanical drafting experience and an understanding of tolerances required. Must be able to perform solid modeling and drafting with Solid Works 2010. AutoCAD and Pro E Wildfire 5.0 is a plus. Must be proficient in 2D drawing layout. Must possess excellent communication skills written and verbal. Must have the ability to work with technical and non-technical employees and outside vendors/suppliers. Must be able to project manage the purchase and build of inside and outside tooling. Must be familiar with weld symbols and practices. Must be flexible and decisive in solving problems in a fast-paced production environment. Must be a strong user of Microsoft Office products. Experience with welding and machining processes required. Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance per ANSI Y14.5 a plus. Experience in prototype production and testing methods desirable.
