REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
Position Purpose:
Perform general accounting within the bank?s operation. Perform all bank, state, and federal reporting functions under the direction of the CFO. Develop microcomputer expertise and perform monthly reports of deposit bases and branch allocations of deposits.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Know, understand, and follow United Bank?s policies and procedures.
Prepare and submit the call report on a quarterly basis.
Handle computer security control and maintenance.
Responsible for cash control, including fed funds and correspondent bank balances.
Responsible for all general ledger maintenance, including balancing and account number maintenance.
Maintain contact in conjunction with management with investment services regarding sales/purchases of bank investments.
Maintain investment portfolio records.
Supervise accounting assistant.
Review sales and use tax frequency determined by reporting rules.
Oversee the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
Oversee the activities of the accounting department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, core employee expense reports, cash control, 1099 reporting, stockholder dividends, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.
Become the United Bank core system expert, full understanding of the core system operations, functionality, and its utilization for efficiencies in accounting, operations, reporting while remaining cognizant of minimizing user utility. Provide project management, and or support project managers as needed, and as related to Operations plans and programs
Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate their financial needs.
Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Responsible for prepay, financial accruals, fixed asset reports and policies.
Review all month-end closing activities including GL maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/cost allocation.
Perform treasury functions including capital advances from FHLB or other funding sources, and cash management.
Monitors and confirms financial condition to auditors; providing information to external auditors.
Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; recommending investments.
Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Answer phone in a courteous and professional manner.
Update knowledge through various training resources.
Ability and willingness to work in other United Bank locations as needed.
Participation in employee meetings, training sessions, job related , and community functions.

Positive representation of the bank within the community, promoting United Bank in order to obtain deposit and/or loan growth for United Bank through customer and personal contacts. Maintain contact with customers, the public, and the community. Conduct relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank and promote United Bank?s products and services.
Volunteer for public relation activities, fundraisers, non-profit organizations, or other events within the community throughout the year to show support for the community and its residents while promoting United Bank.
Position Qualifications:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products and United Bank?s core system.
