Activities Coordinator - Memory Care Job Opening in Huntersville, North carolina - Carillon Assisted Living, the premier company for assisted living in North Carolina, is currently seeking an Activities Coordinator - Memory Care for our facility in Huntersville, NC .
The Activities Coordinator for our Memory Care Unit(The Garden Place) assists our Resident Care Director with the coordination of resident care including, activities, dietary and personal care and is also responsible for the coordination and supervision of programming, staffing, and supervision of staff. Responsible for the implementation of a stimulating activity program encompassing physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual activities. Programs will address needs of the active elderly to the early stages of Alzheimer's and related dementia within a secure unit. Will be in charge of pre-admission assessments, staff training, coordination of care planning, and ensure that the program is in compliance with the company's standards for dementia care. Will serve as the primary liaison with the gerontological community and as the dementia resource person for the facility, family members, and staff. Must present self in a professional manner, display genuine concern for elderly and act maturely in dealing with others.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Willing to work flexible hours, such as during evenings and weekends, for planned activities and events.
One year of activity programming experience with agencies responsible for seniors and specifically secure Alzheimer's units. Two or more years working with the dementia population is preferred.
Must maintain a current driver's license in the state employed. Must be able to operate a car or bus.
Must be a certified or licensed healthcare or allied healthcare professional or be eligible for certification or licensing
Must understand and be committed to the psychosocial model of care and the special needs of residents with Alzheimer's/dementia.
