Director, Duke Cancer Network Job Opening in Henderson, North carolina - JOB SUMMARY Purpose : To lead and direct the programmatic oncology services provided through the oncology program for a DCN Affiliate Hospital, Maria Parham Medical Center (MPMC) in order to meet the mission of patient care delivered in the MPMC oncology program and community and to facilitate the needs and objectives of MPMC and Duke. Scope of Responsibilities: The Director is responsible for the day to day operation of the services and management of the interdisciplinary team, and is responsible for the oncology program?s activity and operational leadership along with medical director. The Director collaborates with the MPMC Chief Operations Officer (COO) and serves as the Duke Cancer Network (DCN) liaison with MPMC personnel in order to meet the goals and objectives of the program, including accreditation, quality improvement, strategic planning, compliance with state and federal programs, and reimbursement requirements. JOB RESPONSIBILITES A. Coordination of delivery of quality care at Duke Affiliated radiation and medical oncology programs ? specifically at MPMC Cancer Center B. Clinical practice and clinical program coordination
Leads cancer committee efforts in support of the American College of Surgeons CoC accreditation.
Co-Leads quarterly steering committee efforts to develop and communicate program effort and status.
C. Staff oversight and education functions
In coordination with the Chief Operations Officer at MPMC or his designee, manages various personnel actions including but not limited to, performance appraisals, promotions, and coaching, scheduling, counseling and formal discipline of staff when necessary.
Assists in recruitment, hiring activities for staff.
D. Strategic development and reporting support
In collaboration with DCN staff, provides input into MPMC strategic planning initiatives related to radiation, medical and surgical oncology, including availability of Duke Resources to support the MPMC clinical oncology program, organizational design and identification of potential new locations.
Coordinates the ongoing preparation of monitoring systems to include quarterly productivity, quality reports, and ongoing communication with MPMC Administration using Duke and DCN quality score card methodology or MPMC defined reporting metrics.
E. Research program support
Assists in the development, oversight, implementation and ongoing support of oncology research programs at MPMC.
F. Coordination
Analyzes, develops and maintains a nursing care delivery system that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum.
G. Leadership and Professional Accountability
Demonstrates effective leadership skills in delegation, organization, and coordination of intra-department activities and inter-department integration.
Required Qualifications at this Level This position requires the individual to have the ability to respond appropriately in highly public environments, both on and remote to the MPMC and Duke Campus, in high pressure situations. (Preferred)
Management experience within the healthcare industry.
as a registered nurse or administrative expert in oncology care.
If an RN, OCN or AOCN, APON desirable.
BLS certification
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Project management experience and ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Computer literacy
Education
Position requires analytical, organizational and communications skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Master of Health Care Administration or MBA preferred.
Experience
Work requires a minimum of five years management experience within the healthcare industry OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
