Database / Back-End Developers Job Opening in Cambridge, Massachusetts - WuXi NextCODE is a contract genomics organization, with offices in Shanghai, Cambridge, MA and Reykjavík.
Our Corporate Mission is building a global platform for genomic data to serve hospitals and diagnostics laboratories, wellness initiatives, precision medicine and population genomics.
To meet increasing demand and growing number of opportunities we are expanding our software development teams, both in our Reykjavik office and in Cambridge.
We are looking for candidates with passion for software technology and ambitions to develop best in class solutions in the rapidly growing field of genomics and healthcare.
We are looking for experienced software developers to work on the foundation for our digital platform for genomic analysis.
This includes our relational database for genomic data, GORdb, which represents the state-of-the-art for analysing large volumes of genomic data, running on hundreds of compute nodes with elastic scalability - the only database system proven to work with population scale volumes of whole genome data samples.
Additionally, we are developing services and job management system to run federated query analysis across biobanks, both for genomic data analysis and for longitudinal clinical data in conventional relational database systems.
We are seeking individuals with strong experience and solid knowledge in many of the following areas:
4-6 years experience required
Proficiency in Java, JVM or the Scala programming language.
Rich experience in working with SQL and a solid understanding of datastructures.
Knowledge of big-data architectures such as Hadoop and Spark.
Working knowledge of cloud systems and load-distribution systems such as Slurm, SGE or Kubernetes
Familiarity with agile development processes, issue tracking systems and version controls.
The GOR database Team will be based in our Cambridge office, but is mainly based in Reykjavik, Iceland.
