Server Job Opening in Iowa City, Iowa - The Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Iowa City is opening soon and we are hiring for Servers to join our Food & Beverage team! The Hilton Garden Inn is a 10x winner of the JD Powers Award for customer service delivered in the upscale segment of the hotel industry. This Hilton Garden Inn will be a 143 room property with banquet space for up to 220 guests. This property will also feature a rooftop restaurant and bar called Vue Rooftop and it will feature indoor + outdoor space and will be one of the leading rooftop restaurant experiences in the country.
This is a part-time or full-time position, requiring approximately 20-35 hours of work each week. This position will work a mixture of morning and evening shifts (1st and 2nd shifts). The server will be responsible for greeting, selling, order taking and serving guests in safe and efficient compliance with policies and procedures, brand standards, and federal, state and local regulations.
Essential duties and responsibilities for this position would include but are not limited to:
-Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and some holidays
-Must be on time and at work when scheduled, and in proper uniform
-Project a professional image in all aspects of work performance
-Must be able to maintain composure during periods of high stress
-Process guest checks and collect payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions, room charge processing and accounting policies and procedures
-Answer all questions about cooking methods, menu items, specials and prices
-Prompt submission of food orders with the kitchen in accordance with prescribed procedures
-Check food to ascertain appearance, temperature and portions are correct
-Timely deliver beverage and food orders to guest
-Remove dirty glasses, dishes and silverware from occupied tables
-Clear empty tables of linens, dishes and debris and place items in proper areas; reset tables
-Clean and restock service items
-Clean all spills and breakfast immediately
-Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
