Grants and Contracts Financial Analyst Job Opening in Arlington, Virginia - The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) at the Smithsonian Institution seeks an experienced, results oriented Grants and Contracts Financial Analyst to provide technical assistance on all aspects of post award sponsored projects management. This position will support on a diverse portfolio of funding awards for research programs and projects. The incumbent will serve as primary contact for investigators and fund managers and act as liaison to sponsors regarding grant and contract financial matters. Please note: this is not a Federal position.
Major Responsibilities:
Provides excellent customer service when interacting with investigators, fund managers, and other central offices.
Monitors award compliance with Smithsonian policies, sponsor terms and conditions, guidelines and 2CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) throughout the life of the award.
Performs financial management functions, including billing sponsors in accordance with award invoicing terms, preparing letter of credit draw downs, applying check payments and wire transfer of funds accurately to outstanding accounts receivable, managing accounts receivable (including researching and resolving any credit balances) and resolving unidentified payments from sponsor in a timely manner.
Monitors financial report due dates, prepares and submits interim and final financial reports.
Monitors expenditures, grant budgets, spending rates, continuations, renewals and end dates of sponsored projects.
Assists with training on post award management and compliance.
Qualification Requirements:
1 to 3 years of accounting experience
1 to 3 years of experience with grants/contracts - post-award
Bachelor?s Degree
Knowledge of Uniform Guidance and Federal Acquisition Regulations preferred
Detail-oriented and able to work independently
Strong organizational, coordination and prioritization skills
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with indirect cost proposals, auditing, PeopleSoft ERP a plus.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required
