Basic Purpose : Lead PatientMatters? (?PM?) hospital-based operations team, focusing on improving advocacy, patient access operations and patient receivables management.
Summary of Job : Lead the charge and be a change agent to implement the vision of assisting hospitals to better manage their patients? self-pay responsibilities. Be a player coach, hands-on advisor who possesses the passion to strive for excellence with client hospitals as well as the compassion for patients to receive the best healthcare services available. Provide leadership and guidance to co-managed revenue cycle operations, including patient advocacy, scheduling and preregistration, registration, customer service, and patient receivables management. Be the on-site face of PatientMatters to hospital executives.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Implement PM's operational playbook to improve our hospital partners' operating margin by 2%+ of net patient revenue. Coordinate revenue cycle initiatives, developing strategies and leading margin enhancing process changes across the revenue cycle. Additionally:
Facilitate implementation of PMs? proprietary technology, which monitors patient registration and financial clearance for quality assurance, eligibility verification, and patient liability estimation
Manage and maintain business relationships with Hospital Management and Revenue Cycle business partners to maximize hospital margins
Analyze Hospital financial reports and operational dashboards for opportunities and initiate revenue focused projects to improve work and patient flow specific to financial registration,counseling, ED processes, scheduling, and pre-access configuration and implementation.
Knowledge and Skills Required :
Ability to create a collaborative work environment between hospital business office employees and on site PM employees to enhance business operations, productivity, and effectiveness.
Strong interpersonal skills with experience motivating and leading a group of tenured employees to effect change
Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and organization skills
Superior analytical and problem solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Self-directed with ability to work with various stakeholders and teams
Ability to make quality, independent decisions as well as the ability to collaborate effectively to make decisions with other hospital leaders
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple interruptions
Strong hospital financial, business office, and revenue cycle understanding
Education :
Bachelor?s Degree required with emphasis in healthcare, hospital administration, or financial analysis; and/or
Hospital Operations Certification(s)
Qualifications :
3 to 5 years of progressive Patient Access and / or Business Office Revenue Cycle Management experience, as a leader or member of a revenue cycle transformation effort where key functions were reviewed / analyzed for 200+ bed hospital; and/or 5+ years of hospital revenue cycle consulting experience.
