Behavioral Health Clinician - Job Opening in Anchorage, Alaska - If you love the ocean, enjoy fishing and working in small communities our tribal health organization operates community health centers where behavioral health is integrated with medical and dental services. We are mission-driven with a purpose to help our people be the healthiest in the world. One of the strengths of the work is not being inundated with clients--you can take the time to sit down, listen, counsel and work with clients to the fullest extent of your training and talents. You will work with other clinicians who are experienced in the region and understand culturally appropriate ways of meeting the needs of the clients. Innovations include being the first among tribal health organizations in the nation to be accredited as a patient-centered medical home, extensive use of , first to collaborate with the State of Alaska in Project HOPE (educating and dispensing Narcan within our communities to lay population to reduce deaths from opiate overdose). We are also partnering with another tribal health organization to begin an intensive outpatient management program for detox and treatment of addictions--using and being potentially the first in the nation to do so. You will have autonomy, and independence while also tapping into the extensive tribal health system to be able to help clients and meet their needs.
We are looking for the following in applicants;
Skill in providing effective and compassionate care, assessing patient situations and taking effective courses of action. You will perform assessments, intakes, make diagnoses and treatment plans, discharge and refer clients in accordance to typical behavioral health services provided in community health centers.
Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple requests by patients, families, and team members. . Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications. Skill in reviewing clinical work of others according to professional standards and practice guidelines.
Knowledge of child protection, elder protection and ICWA laws. Knowledge of behavioral healthcare terminology, physiology and concepts of disease. Knowledge of 1974 Privacy Act and updated CFR 42 regulations.
Ability to educate and coordinate with other health care professionals. Ability to perform job with minimum supervision. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of issues. Ability to travel in small airplanes, boats or ferries to reach our villages and communities. See website for details of villages we serve and the beautiful places you will travel to.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master of Social Work, Psychology, or related field, ability to become licensed in the State of Alaska as an LCSW, MSW, LMFT, LPC, or Clinical Psychologist.
Four (4) years of behavioral health care experience preferred. Experience in Rural cross culture setting preferred.
