Barnana ® was founded in late 2012 by Caue Suplicy, Matt Clifford and Nik Ingersoll.
They set out with the goal of creating a brand synonymous with the curved yellow fruit we all know and love, the banana.
Why bananas? Well, bananas are the most consumed fruit in the US and they are also the most wasted.
Barnana ® is on a mission to end food waste on organic banana farms by upcycling the bananas that used to go to waste. Up to 20% of all bananas that are grown go to waste before ever reaching distribution. But why? Well, there are stringent export standards that leave the ?imperfect? bananas without anyone to eat them so they get thrown away.

THE ROLE: STAFF ACCOUNTANT
At Barnana ® we are on a constant quest to improve the efficacy of the food system by challenging the organization to reach new heights. This applies to everything we do especially having incredible leaders at all levels of the organization.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will be responsible for stewarding accounting to ensure accuracy and accountability of the Company?s financials statements. This is a multifaceted role that requires domain expertise in accounting, bookkeeping and reconciliation. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, entering and reconciling transactions. This individual will be responsible for day to day accounting and will ensure all transactions invoices and payments are accurate and approved. Furthermore, they will work with the sales team to ensure promotions and chargebacks are authorized and approved. We are a small team of hungry entrepreneurs and are looking for someone who is hungry, high-energy, lives an active healthy lifestyle, and is a little weird to join us!
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
A/R Deduction tracking and analysis
Create and maintain all general ledger account reconciliations for month close
Prepare and enter journal entries
Procurement processing and accounts payable.
Oversee corporate credit card transactions
Assist with inventory reconciliations
Maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure internal controls
Assist Director of Finance in month close responsibilities
Tax and misc reporting: file misc state and local tax forms
Work with outside tax consultant with federal and state income tax filings
Preparing and process various commissions calculations
Entering and reconciling prepaid and accruals
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 year of experience in accounting, (Consumer products goods preferred)
Strong familiarity with Quickbooks Enterprise
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Word.
Proficient in GAAP, CPA is a plus.
Attention to detail is a must.
Someone with both strong written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized and methodical
Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
A team player, comfortable with ambiguity and deadline pressures
A high energy values based individual who is passionate about sustainability and natural foods.
Bachelors degree in accounting preferred, however if you?re awesome - it?s not necessary!
