Financial Controller Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - Established in 1888, Henry Frerk Sons, Inc. is a family owned (5th generation), retail building material supplier on the northwest side of Chicago. We are seeking a full time, experienced financial controller to help lead our company. This position reports directly to the owner/president of the company.
Responsibilities Include:
-Accounting
G/L
Journal Entries
Month/Year end close
Financial Statements
-Payroll
Weekly preparation
Payroll tax deposits
Quarterly/Year end tax returns
401(K) deposits
Union dues and benefits
-Reconcile bank and credit cards
-Oversee A/P and A/R clerk and collections
-Monthly Sales/rental tax payments and reports
-Budgeting and job costing
-Establish, monitor & enforce policies & procedures
-Establish, monitor & enforce internal controls to protect assets
-Monitor financial conditions by conducting audits
-Prepare information for external audits
-Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-Minimum 5 years of computer based experience
-Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work & Outlook)
-Payroll and HR experience
-High attention to detail
-Excellent organizational skills
-Prior retail experience helpful
