Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association is a non-profit organization in Berwyn, IL. CNNSSA serves Congregate and Home Delivered Meals older adults in Cook, Kendall, and Grundy Counties.
We are currently seeking a detail orientated Staff Accountant with non-profit experience. This is not an entry level position, must have a degree in Accounting with 4-5 years? experience. Many assignments will be completed independently, while others will involve working with other team members. Individual should be self-motivated and able to work effectively as a member of a team as well as independently. Excellent organization and communications skills essential.
Responsibilities
Ensures financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
Assists in identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
Assists in completing an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
Assists with timely reporting of all monthly and quarterly financial information.
Monitors timely receipt of all receivable information from field office/s.
Perform the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with Finance policies and procedures
Ensures timely and correct data entry of all accounts receivables.
Ensures complete and timely submission of all in-kind reports.
Completes reconciliations for Balance Sheet items on a monthly basis.
Responsible for multiple month end closing entries.
Maintains financial files on all appropriate large workplace giving campaigns including copies of checks, donations listing, and other documentation.
Helps with other financial analysis and administrative tasks as appropriate.
Ensures we are compliant with all appropriate GAAP Standards.
Responsible along with Director of Accounting and Operations for the production of all audit work-papers for our annual financial audit.
Handles routine accounting requirements, including general ledger maintenance, and subsidiary ledger maintenance and reconciliation.
Works with Director of Accounting and Operations to analyze operations and identify opportunities to achieve greater efficiencies.
Works with Director of Accounting and Operations to enhance internal controls.
Skills Needed:
Knowledge of MIP/Sage Fund Accounting software and Raiser?s Edge.
Knowledge of budget preparation and grant management (private funders and government grants).
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to demonstrate attention to details and
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel).
Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization.
Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends. Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
Ability to work successfully with a wide variety of constituents including donors, board members, volunteers, and professional consultants.
High levels of integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion, and humor are necessary to address the practicalities of a nonprofit, along with the creativity and persistence required to elicit new thinking and change.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to manage multiple priorities, and work in a deadline driven environment.
Qualifications:
At least 2 solid years of non-profit accounting and 4+ of cumulative relevant experience (accounting operations and/or audit).
Strong background in budget preparation and grant management (private funders and government grants).
Abila MIP Fund Accounting (formerly Sage _MIP_ ) Software EXPERIENCE IS A MUST!
Education:
Must have a degree in Accounting, CPA a plus
