Position Summary:
We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to work closely with our Procurement Manager to help ensure a continuous supply of products through procuring and maintaining adequate inventory levels in a certified organic manufacturing environment. This is primarily a tactical role that will be integral to our success as we continue to grow. This position will be responsible for assisting the Procurement Manager with sourcing materials and services, driving improved supplier service levels, minimizing risk while improving business results and instilling procurement best practice processes.
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to :
Assist in prequalifying vendors and verifying product specifications
Assist in growing Supplier relationships to ensure optimum value for goods and services, considering Price, Quality, Logistics, Innovation and Risk with respect to Earth Mama?s administration, production and customer service requirements
Assist in assuring that inventory transactions are recorded accurately and timely, the bills-of-materials are accurate and up-to-date and costs properly reflected and calculated
Work closely with Quality Control to insure FDA and USDA regulatory compliance
Work closely with Procurement Manager to aid in advancing Earth Mama ?s inventory control parameters consistent with our demand planning goals
Manage and confirm inventory for high volume purchase orders
Reviews and submits purchase orders for purchases of pre-negotiated supplies or services
Ensures all costs are accurate and specifications are accurately depicted on purchase order prior to order release
Reconciles purchase orders and invoices for accuracy of the correct item, quantity received, and dollar amount
Secure and analyze quotations, prices and terms for smaller spend categories and make recommendations with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness
Research market prices and trends as requested
Gathers and provides reporting, data and spend analysis as requested
Assist Procurement Manager as needed with updating of procurement demand plan
Support the organization?s continuous Improvement/Lean initiatives including identifying opportunities to improve processes or procedures
Interacts and communicates well with Suppliers, Distribution and Sales team
Qualifications and Required Skills
First and foremost we're looking for a track record of impeccable attention to detail and the ability to juggle many different items at any given time. We're also looking for a work experience that includes working with multiple facilities and inventory management.
Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain management, or related field required, or equivalent work experience
Highly energetic, self-starter with 3+ years of procurement experience
Knowledge of standard procurement and accounting processes and practices
Experience working in a manufacturing environment a plus
Experience with FDA and USDA regulatory compliance a plus
Well organized and comfortable working independently as well as taking direction from upper management
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Negotiation abilities a plus
High competency level (intermediate to advanced) in use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience with working in an ERP system a plus
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages. Able to apply concepts of basic algebra
Demonstrates strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
Demonstrates a passion for safe, certified organic products
Possesses a high level of integrity, honesty, tolerance and responsibility
Maintains high levels of organization and detail
Works well under pressure in a fast paced environment, meets deadlines, and is flexible while working on multiple projects simultaneously
Consistent team player, positive attitude, great sense of humor and a passion for the company mission
