Financial Accountant Job Opening in Santa Monica, California - HBA International is seeking a financial accountant to support a dynamic accounting team. This is a unique opportunity to join a well-established yet growing operation with a global reach.
The position is mainly to assist finance team with month end close and review.
Should be able to work independently with minimal oversight. Prospective applicants must be efficient, due in part to various deadlines. Must be able to effectively meet deadlines and prioritize work assignments for efficiency. Organizational skills are a key component to success in this field, as it requires working with large amounts of data.
Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
Assist Finance team to drive simplification, process improvement and standardization
Query, sort, identify and summarize financial data from DAX for monthly reporting
Assist in month-end Accounting close processes and reporting including journal entry postings and liaison with corporate office
Assist and deliver monthly reporting include Balance Sheet & income statement Variance Analysis, Various category reporting, Balance sheet reconciliations
Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
Assistance in preparation of monthly journal entries and general ledger account reconciliation for month-end closing as assigned.
Assistance in the preparation of financial and audit schedules.
Preparation of periodic accounting reports and schedules as needed.
Perform special projects and prepare ad hoc operational and financial analyses as required by management.
Back up to other accounting personnel such as Accounts Payable duties; accurately code invoices and coordinate proper approval, reviewing accuracy of AP postings. Review and approve weekly payment runs
Fixed asset analysis & review
Requirements:
* Must possess Bachelor's degree (Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance strongly preferred.)
* At least 2 years of relevant financial experience. (Ideal candidate will have professional services experience and will have worked for a national or global organization. There is a great deal of intercompany accounting and they work with many foreign currencies.)
* Must have experience in Auditing, Financial Review and Taxation
* Must possess strong analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Must be service oriented and must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
* Must have an advanced understanding of Excel
* Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is preferred but not required
