Assistant Distribution Manager Job Opening in Hanover, Maryland - Position: Distribution Center Assistant Manager

Reports To: Distribution Center Manager
Status: Full-Time/salaried
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary:
Assists with management and administrative functions related to the Distribution Center including warehouse operations, maintenance, accounting and, personnel issues, training, safety/shrink control, and inventory control. Assists in managing a logistics operation that provides support to the Company, ensuring orders are selected, packaged, loaded, and dispatched safely, timely, and efficiently, economically, and that proper records are maintained..
Responsibilities
Promotes productivity and safety through effective training and feedback to associates.
Maintains records of associate attendance and performance.
Anticipates staff needs, schedules personnel, and assigns work.
Maintains daily objectives and ensures work goals are met in a timely and effective manner.
Monitor teams/ employees for efficiency and accuracy
Initiates personnel actions for approval by management.
Selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff.
Executes process improvement action plans within work group Reports to Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager.
Direct reports generally include Warehouse Department Supervisors, Department Heads and Facility Associates.
Requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
Procedures for analyzing situations and making conclusions are diverse.
Considers among many different options or procedures when solving problems.
Progress or results of work is regularly checked and prior approval is required before changing standard work procedures
Works in a comfortable environment but with exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes.
Will be expected to effectively respond to issues related to people or situations
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED.
Two to three years of distribution center experience that would include most of the following: logistics management, material handling, DOT regulations, import procedures, rail process management, store ordering processes, and receiving processes preferred
Supervisory and management skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, familiarization WM Systems as well as reports, procedures, etc.
Flexibility, problem solving, and organization skills
Coaching, counseling, and people management skills
Physical Job Requirements:
Most time is spent, standing or walking
Lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight.
