Maintenance & Environmental Services Director Job Opening in Tacoma, Washington - Overview:
Repairs and maintains the facility's physical plant, and directs and coordinates the activities of the housekeeping and laundry department to maintain the facility in a sanitary and orderly condition. Develops, coordinates, supervises, and performs a variety of activities and services in the ongoing upkeep and maintenance of the physical plant and facility grounds. Responsible for planning, scheduling, supervising, participating in, and inspecting the work of departmental employees and outside organizations in providing a clean, sanitary, safe, attractive, and well maintained facility. Functionally responsible for the proper provision of all light, heat, and service facilities to all building and physical plant locations; functionally responsible for the proper provision and delivery of individual resident housekeeping and laundry services. Interprets policy and regulations to all ancillary staff and ensures compliance.

Qualifications and Job Skills (a more detailed job description available upon request):
A high school diploma or G.E.D. and two years related experience and/or training is required; or an associate?s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and six months of related experience and/or training.
Knowledge of building maintenance and upkeep, along with the housekeeping and laundry functions required in a healthcare facility or similar setting. This must include competence in understanding and providing routine maintenance to the facility's electrical, plumbing, heating, and other systems.
The ability to understand and follow safety procedures and precautions as they apply to maintenance and housekeeping functions.
Posses or obtain a working knowledge of state Boarding Home regulations pertaining to maintenance and housekeeping; infection control procedures; safety; and quality assurance.
Possess appropriate communication skills to foster and maintain positive relations with residents, families, physicians, state officials, Company staff, and outside healthcare agencies.
Ability to work as part of a team, while teaching, monitoring, and motivating the performance of others.
Contribute to facility's commitment to quality resident care, to protection of residents' rights, and to full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for the purchasing of supplies and equipment for the and Maintenance departments; maintains records and control of equipment inventory and custodial supply inventory; recommends new and improved cleaning products and purchase of new supplies and equipment; ensures that employees have adequate supplies and equipment for completion of assignments.
Establishes and maintains schedules; trains personnel in housekeeping procedures; assigns personnel to designated work areas; conducts inspections, checking for completion and quality of work assignments; discusses general housekeeping procedures and requirements with personnel of the assigned area; recommends and implements changes in procedures and requirements.
Perform general maintenance functions, including routine plumbing repair, routine electrical repair, changing of light bulbs and tubes, repair damaged furniture and fixtures, etc.
Responsible for coordinating and assisting in the cleaning of interior building space ensuring a clean, safe, and pleasing environment.
Oversight and perform general housekeeping functions to include: routine floor and carpet care, cleaning of resident living quarters, common use areas, and public facilities, etc.
Oversight and perform general laundry functions to include: the laundering of resident personal laundry and facility linens; Resolve Lost /Missing items through investigation and recovery process.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $35,000.00 to $45,000.00 /year
