Medical Lab Technologist/Medical Technologist Job Opening in Marysville, Kansas - The position is a full-time position with call included in the schedule. The lab is open for 12 hours and the remaining 12 hours is covered with call.
Job Summary: Performs routine and special laboratory assays of patient specimens, exercising independent judgment when evaluating the validity of test results prior to result reporting. Operates and calibrates all equipment in the area of specialization, evaluates the validity of laboratory data, records test results, communicates with physician, pathologists and nursing staff regarding test procedures and results.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs routine and stat laboratory assays.
Performs type and cross matches in the blood bank.
Demonstrates knowledge of expected lab results for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Makes medical technologist and/or pathologist aware of abnormal results, panic values.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Follows standard precautions at all times.
Operates and maintains equipment correctly and safely, including calibration of instruments.
Uses hospital approved disinfectants for cleaning.
Responsible for inventory of reagents and supplies in the laboratory.
Interacts with laboratory personnel in a professional manner.
Performs clerical work; is able to input and retrieve lab results in the computer system.

Professional Requirements
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of MLT or MT educational program.
ASCP, AMT, national certification, or HEW licensure required.
Meet the requirements required by CLIA 1988.
