Summary Description: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and general operation of high technology patient simulators, lower technology task trainers, clinical equipment, and related multimedia peripherals used in the training of healthcare professionals from all specialties.

Assist instructors with planning and implementation of simulation instruction.
Coordinate all college simulation activities including, but not limited to; outreach activities, marketing campaigns and tours.
Collaborate with stakeholders, faculty and staff in development, implementation, and evaluation of the simulation program curriculum.
Assist educators with the development of customized simulation activities that enhance learning through the incorporation of appropriate simulation technologies.
Assist with simulation?related research efforts as designated.
Arrange for the acquisition and/or preparation of materials and equipment necessary to meet the simulation objectives.
Maintain order of simulation labs, equipment, supplies and simulators.
Ensure proper storage of materials and equipment at the end of each lab session.
Prepare, distribute, and review, with faculty and staff, updates, upgrades, learning opportunities and trainings.
Ensure staff development support will be available, for faculty and staff, to enhance skills in simulation.
Ensure vehicle maintenance for Mobile Simulation Lab.
Maintain simulation calendar and supervise the adjunct simulation technician?s schedule, training, and performance.
Communicate in a positive, professional manner with co?workers, faculty instructors, students, and other users of the simulation center. This includes both written and verbal communication.
Assist faculty and other staff of the simulation center in the operational aspects of simulation.
Assist with special projects or initiatives as required.
Provide faculty instructors with instructional tools and technical or administrative support to carry out simulation sessions. This includes setting up the simulator, the rooms, and appropriate audio?video components for each session, and preparing educational material for the activity as directed.
Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from partial task trainers to high fidelity patient simulators to virtual reality simulators.
Interface with the equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and systems problems as well as periodic upgrades; maintain record of repairs.
Perform all required equipment maintenance and troubleshooting while actively maintaining proficiency in existing and emerging technologies, including basic theory, design, and implementation.
Be available to faculty, staff and students for ancillary support at scheduled times.
Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of data.
Participate in college committees as elected or assigned.
Submit time sheets and other required paperwork by established deadlines.
Sign contracts in a timely manner.
Participate in professional development activities as deemed necessary by supervision.
Assist in recruiting activities when assigned.
Work with the community in meeting the educational needs of our service area.
Coordinate simulations for day, evening and weekend classes as required.
Assist in new course development as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent; valid North Carolina EMS credential; plus one year of teaching experience. A combination of teaching experience and simulation experience may be assessed in lieu of one year of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate?s Degree in Paramedic Science or equivalent; three years teaching experience and online class experience.
