Accounting Assistant Job Opening in Grand Rapids, Michigan - Job Description: Accounting Assistant
Department: Accounting and Operations
Location : Grand Rapids, Michigan
Hours: 8 hour days that match office hours
Office Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday ? Thursday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Friday (Memorial Day-Labor Day 8:00am-4:00pm )
Reporting Relationship: Director of Finance and Staff Assistant
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Accounting:
Cash
Direct bill processing
Aflac remittance
Disbursement application with vendor payables and company payables
Filing accounts payable checks
Stuff accounts payable checks/remittance in envelopes for outgoing mail
File journal entries in month end binder
Assist accounting and operations in month end processing
Miscellaneous projects as assigned
Front Desk/Receptionist:
Back up on phones for receptionist?s lunch breaks and appointments
Cover for receptionist?s vacations
Open and sort mail when the receptionist is absent.
To be successful in this role, you will be:
Knowledgeable in accounting
Discrete when handling sensitive information
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite ? Excel, Word, Outlook
Able to multi-task with solid organizational skills
An excellent communicator and a team player with a positive ?can-do? attitude
An analytical thinker that can work independently
Detail oriented and accurate
Eager to learn, flexible and interested in the company?s future success
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
:
An Associate?s Degree in Finance or Accounting
1-2 years? experience in an accounting department preferred but not required
Experience within an insurance agency preferred but not required
