This position will be full time, temp to hire.
The general ledger accountant will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of our trial balance, account analyses, standard journal entries and supporting our month end closing process. It is expected that you will learn our accounting processes, ERP system processes and become a subject matter expert in all things general accounting related. In addition, you will be trained in continuous improvement methods so that you help us take advantage of the latest and best in class practices in support of our ambitious growth expectations. This entry level position directly reports to the Accounting Manager.
Job Responsibilities and Duties.
Month-end and year-end closing
Standard journal entries related to all thing general accounting
Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies
Monthly expense variance analysis
Balance sheet accounts reconciliations
Property, sales and use tax and franchise tax returns
Audit support ? client data preparation and fielding clarifying question from auditors
Budget development support ? gathering of historical data and development of detailed cost files.
Sales support ? product profitability analysis process and data accuracy
Qualifications:
Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.
Hands-on detail-oriented tasks. This is a role with lots of learning upside.
Strong Excel and database skills, Access experience preferred
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Prior experience in a manufacturing business environment a plus
