Staff Accountant Job Opening in Charlotte, North carolina - Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, at least 2-3 years continuous experience in this role.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in accounting and two years of accounting experience.
Performs account analyses and reconciles selected balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Prepares assigned recurring and non-recurring journal entries of the month-end closing process
Reviews data received from Field Supervisors and subsystems for completeness and accuracy.
Preforms fixed asset maintenance including additions, transfers, and disposals.
Answers questions from department heads concerning variances on performance reports of directs questions to appropriate individual(s).
Perform analytical reviews, research, and other related duties independently, or as requested by management.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting or Finance required. Knowledge of Quick Book Pro, Excel, and word processing software required. Individual should be able to work independently with minimal supervision from Financial Services Department Manager.
Role
The primary responsibility of the Accountant is to prepare the monthly financial statements, which includes normal/routine accounting entries as well as ensuring proper reconciliation of general ledger accounts to deliver timely and accurate financial results to management and external accountants. Help facilitate quarterly reviews and annual year-end audit by external auditors. This individual will be responsible for the entire accounting function, including: Billing/AR (invoicing and collections), AP, Client issues (statements, credits, questions, info updates), internal controls, bank records, cash summaries (deposits, receipts), Month end activities, contract reviewing, and develop project cost systems.
Responsibilities
Vendor bill entry and payment
Client invoicing and payment reconciliation
Accounts receivable follow-up and collection as needed (rarely needed given the nature of the business? customers)
Expense allocation
Calculating and processing payroll; including numerous pay cycles
Calculating and processing commission payments
Employee reimbursements (including mileage) entry, project allocation, and payment processing
Filing monthly sales tax reports in multiple states
Filing monthly procurements as required by numerous clients and/or distributors
Budget and forecasting
Month end closing ? bank reconciliations and reporting
