The successful Senior Underwriter / Underwriting Manager candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial conditions of individuals and businesses applying for commercial credit, and making recommendations to the Loan Review Committee for approval. This position is primarily responsible for analyzing complex new loans and loan renewals. Our company specializes in the purchase, fix & flip of single family homes (acquiring and selling REOs, foreclosures, and other distressed properties as necessary). The candidate must be a leader with impeccable communication skills. This position will be groomed for a Director role!!! Responsibilities include:
Underwriting various types of commercial loans, with a focus on loans secured by commercial real estate. This includes appraisal review, environmental review, as well as various financial analyses.
Reviewing and approving various commercial loans and lines following our policy
Monitoring the loan portfolio to evaluate the quality of commercial loans
Analyzing financial data from borrowers for new loans, including financial statements, tax returns, personal financial statements, financial projections, business plans, and information from credit bureaus and other financial institutions.
Analyzing and assigning the appropriate risk rating to each borrower.
Partnering with Business development to gather relevant customer information for analysis, requesting additional information as needed.
Preparing thorough, objective and accurate loan presentations, illustrating the degree of risk involved in extending lending money.
Financial analysis and preparation of loan presentation packet for new loan requests, renewals, and annual reviews.
Developing and recommending strategies on existing loans to meet the lender's standards and to minimize loss potential.
Ensure a high level of understanding of business products, process flow, and financial underwriting practices.
Evaluate applications for loans and make decisions regarding whether to approve for financing.
Performs all necessary functions to effectively and efficiently process underwriting role
Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned
Identifies standards of performance as a basis to provide to Director, Operations for review and approval to measure the progress of personnel assigned.
Fosters a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximize employee morale and productivity.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

If you have the following experience and skills apply now:
Bachelor's degree is a must, preferably in finance or accounting.
Five years underwriting experience with three years of commercial underwriting experience.
Leadership and Management skills are a must
A good understanding of lending concepts, practices, and procedures.
Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office products.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
General understanding of accounting terms and principals.
Ability to read and interpret financial statements to include: Tax returns (individual and business), balance sheet, income statement, cash flow schedules, statement of owner's equity.
Strong presentation skills.
Ability to communicate with senior management, operational and technical staff and peers.
