Carrier Sales Representative Job Opening in Tempe, Arizona - Summary
Coordinate the successful movement of loads as the customer requires by setting pickup and delivery appointments, tracking loads, performing carrier compliance and assisting in the management of outsourced network of transportation provider partners.
Duties & Responsibilities
Make pickup and delivery appointments that meet the needs of contracted carriers and customer requirements
Assist in tracking all loads from the point the carrier is contracted through final delivery of the load
Coordinate with Account Manager?s to encourage them to take loads that can be covered
Negotiate rates with carriers for maximum profit
Collect, document and disseminate accurate information to/from Carriers and Drivers and between internal departments
Dispatch drivers to designated shippers, consignees and intermediate stops if applicable.
Collect all required information from drivers before dispatching and provide accurate and detailed information regarding directions, load information, pick-up/delivery times/numbers as well as all other special load related information*
Document all correspondences, issues and service deviations with carrier/driver and customer in the TMS as they occur or as the information is received*
Manage carrier issues and resolve carrier operational problems including unplanned accessorial charges and accounting discrepancies
Develop and maintain quality working relationships with transportation providers, customers and warehouses by using various means of communications
Represent our customer when working with the contracted carrier
Act as a representative of all contracted carriers
Prospect carriers to further develop the U.S. Xpress Logistics carrier base
Collect and document all available equipment from carrier partners
Document all preferred lanes, live trucks and services offered by carrier partners
Communicate new transportation provider opportunities to Customer Sales and Operations
Review carrier credentials to ensure they meet U.S. Xpress Logistics compliance requirements
Send rate confirmations to carriers that document all requirements and verify receipt
Identify and communicate ways U.S. Xpress Logistics can continuously improve in its operations
Performance targets are ~$18K-$24K margin with ~125 loads monthly
Assist in the development of new employees
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor degree in business or transportation field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
Experience
1-2 years of Sales, Marketing or Customer Service experience is preferred
Experience working in a deadline driven environment preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask required

Work Environment: this job operates in a normal professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines, and filing cabinets.
Physical Requirements: while performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; frequently stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle or feel; and reaches with hands and arms.
