As the Psychiatric Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will assume responsibility and accountability for nursing assessment and/or primary care. You will provide anticipatory guidance, screening and health education to patients which promote and maintain health while using a systematic approach to history and physical appraisal to initiate treatment for patients with commonly occurring behavioral health problems. You will be responsible for prescribing medications and monitoring patients with stabilized long term or chronic mental illness while supporting their families during the process. Additional responsibilities to include participating in Quality Assurance activities and research and training projects.
Master?s Degree in Nursing with Advance skills in behavioral healthcare assessment and a minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience and/or 2 years post Masters clinical nursing experience required. ANA Certification desirable within one year of employment.
Must maintain currency of licensure and certification and function under the collaborative practice agreement for medical aspects of care with collaborating physician. Interpersonal Skills necessary to work productively with patients, family, common nursing staff and other team members necessary.
This position may qualify for the NHSC Loan Repayment Program. This program offers student loan repayment in exchange for 2 years of serving in a community-based site within a high-need HPSA; which that has applied to and been approved by the NHSC as a service site.
