Staff Accountant Job Opening in Danvers, Massachusetts - This role will reside on the finance team and report to the Senior Staff Accountant. They will be responsible for all aspects of reporting. Work is varied in nature with changing priorities. Incumbent applies in-depth knowledge of accounting practices principles and technologies to work performed. Works under limited supervision and in compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)
Daily accounting for one of our warehouse lines of credit
Downloading warehouse files and uploading them into our intranet
Handles month end schedules and reconcile various accounts, including but not limited to Mortgage Receivable, line of credit, warehouse transits, accruals and various liabilities
Assists with preparing supporting documentation for periodic audits
Resolves and handles accounting issues in a professional manner
Interact with daily operations and other team members
Prepare necessary adjusting entries before month end close
Communicate unusual reconciling items
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
(Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and normally required to perform the duties of this position.)
Bachelors degree in accounting
2 - 4 years general ledger accounting
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done and ability to work under pressure
Ability to succeed in a deadline driven environment
Able to multi task
Able to work independently within a team environment
Attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal skills
Strong technical skills using Microsoft Excel
Experience using Great Plains a plus
Prior experience working for a mortgage company a plus
Ability to learn a new industry
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
