Corporate Accountant Job Opening in Lewiston, Maine - The Corporate Accountant completes the monthly fiscal transactions of the facilities, prepares monthly financial statements, prepares Mainecare & Medicare cost reports, and assists in the preparation of annual operating budgets and independent audits. The Corporate Accountant provides technical support to the facilities for all matters relating to the general ledger. Must have strong mathematical and analytical skills for monitoring accounting records and resolving accounting problems and be computer literate with ability to utilize spreadsheet and word processing software.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have at least a Bachelor?s Degree in accounting with a minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience. Healthcare background a strong plus.
JOB DUTIES
Works closely with the financial staff, Administrators, and Office Managers to help ensure consistent system-wide general ledger policies and procedures.
Reviews the accounting system to ensure the accuracy of data and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; reports any necessary modifications to the Corporate Accounting Director.
Works closely with the Kronos Administrator and Payroll personnel to ensure compliance with current government regulations, remission of payroll taxes, and all government reporting.
Imports all monthly AR transactions into the General Ledger and analyzes that data for budgeted census/revenue variances in preparation for the monthly financial review meetings.
Prepares monthly financial statements to include monthly balance sheets, income and expense reports, statistical reports, etc., within the established timelines.
Prepares, reviews, and interprets financial data in preparation for the monthly financial review.
Provides technical support to all facility personnel on all matters relating to the G/L, including compliance with regulatory requirements.
Performs account reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
Prepares and posts adjusting journal entries with appropriate audit documentation.
Maintains a current list of fixed assets and the records all items into FAS software; ensures adequate treatment and documentation of fixed asset acquisitions and retirements.
Prepares and submits annual Personal Property assessments and BETR reports.
Organizes project accounting; ensures detailed and accurate tracking, coding, draws, and reimbursement for external lenders/landlords as well as for depreciation and tax purposes.
Works closely with the financial staff, CFO, and administrators to produce the annual budget for expenses; imports final budget into the Point Care System.
Prepares work papers for the annual independent financial audit and cost reporting; follows up and responds to auditor inquiries, ensures all findings are addressed in a timely manner.
Prepares annual Mainecare and Medicare cost reports, including all required supporting documentation.
Assists with the daily update of cashbooks and Accounts Receivable deposit logs.
Reviews facility invoices for proper documentation, approval, and coding
Performs special projects and other reasonably related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Prolong sitting and working at a computer terminal. Close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to use hands and fingers, reach with hand and arms and talk and hear.
