Open Signal provides the tools, training and transmission for the creation of local, non-commercial, community-based media.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The IT & Web Development Manager will manage, organize, track and report on the activities of the IT Department.
This includes establishing department practices to ensure effective communication with and support of internal departments, effective communication of project timelines, and clear tracking and reporting of department activities and accomplishments.
The IT & Web Development Manager will plan, coordinate development, implement, test and support user-friendly CRM systems, and web-based and database driven applications for Open Signal. He/she will plan and implement web, database and CRM software updates and upgrades as needed.
The IT & Web Development Manager will maintain the back end of public facing and internal websites, and will work with the Information Systems Administrator to ensure that websites and databases are functional and secure.
The IT & Web Development Manager will manage technology projects that: expand or improve efficiencies in operations and office workflow, meet the requirements of grant outcomes, and improve office procedures.
The IT & Web Development Manager reports to the Media Services Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Specific qualifications include but are not limited to:
3-5 years experience maintaining CRMs, websites and database systems - including familiarity with managing a web server from the command line, and an understanding of LAMP, SQL and other web based data structures and data modeling;
1-2 years experience coordinating or managing technology implementation projects - including working directly with developers and UI/UX designers;
Excellent understanding of best practices in the process of software development;
1-2 years experience in a management or supervisory role;
Some experience with Drupal and CiviCRM;
Some experience or knowledge of Craft and Salesforce;
Some experience working with video or media;
Excellent understanding of the technology lexicon used by IT professionals;
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to prioritize;
Ability to learn quickly, seek out new information and adapt to changes in technology;
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills;
Ability to work well alone and as a member of a team;
Ability to recognize and adapt to the varying backgrounds and skill levels of staff and community members;
Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage daily activities of the IT Department including: identifying department priorities, establishing timelines to ensure timely completion of projects, ensuring support of internal departments with research and purchasing, establishing methods to track IT department activities, and work with the IS Administrator to establish plans for regular upgrades and maintenance of all systems;
Manage web development and CRM integration projects, and participate in partnerships around technology development;
Install, configure and maintain Drupal and Craft based website(s);
Train staff and/or community producers on the use of website features;
Install, configure and maintain CiviCRM database(s) and Salesforce;
Train staff on the use of CiviCRM and Salesforce features;
Work collaboratively with staff to develop and refine software processes;
Plan and coordinate development of web-based and database driven applications that respond to programmatic needs, and that support facility operations;
Implement and test software, and train staff and/or community producers on the use of new applications and website features;
Participate in discussions, research and planning of the technology that will support programmatic deliverables;
Work with the Media Services Distribution Lead to develop and/or revise applications to improve efficiency;
Participate and represent Open Signal with local and national open source development groups (including the CM Advanced Group);
Participate in ongoing educational opportunities as possible;
Open or close building, including alarm system, security, and gate as needed;
Participate in facility-wide events, meetings and committees.
