Accounting Manager/ Controller Job Opening in Saco, Maine - Summary
We are a small, rapidly growing biotech manufacturer seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with financial analysis skills. The successful candidate will be well organized, possess strong attention to detail, demonstrate a positive can-do attitude and be able to work independently. The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of QuickBooks, be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and familiar with standard Human Resource procedures.
Maine Molecular Quality Controls, Inc. (MMQCI) in Saco, Maine, designs, develops, manufactures, and markets unique quality control products used by hospital laboratories to monitor the accuracy of tests for inherited disease, pharmacogenetics, oncology, and infectious diseases. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Oversight of MMQCI?s full Charge Bookkeeper.
Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for management decisions, vendor decisions, and contract negotiations.
Reviews payroll processing with a third party, and company?s 401(k).
Oversee the administration of employee benefits and policy.
Work closely with the president to develop procedures and processes to increase efficiency, including QuickBooks timer-based time tracking.
Problem solve by investigating independently when new business related regulations or directives occur.
Review of bank reconciliations, financial reports.
Resolve customer payment discrepancies and initiate collection calls in a professional manner.
Reviews tax preparation reports and works with MMQCI?s external CPAs.
This is expected to a part-time position, approximately 4 hours daily.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Business
Experience
At least 5 years of recent accounting experience using QuickBooks.
Knowledge of GAAP accounting standards is required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
Extensive proficiency with QuickBooks is required.
Experience in processing 3rd party payroll is required.
Knowledge of general HR regulations and policies with ability to stay up to date is required.
Previous experience in cost accounting for a manufacturer is a plus.
