The Daily Planet is a $6M+, FQHC recognized nationally for excellence in delivering health services to all without regard for ability to pay. The organization has a staff of 90+ and 5 facilities providing a variety of health related services in the Greater Richmond area. ()
Job Summary: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Daily Planet Health Services? (DPHS). The CEO is responsible for creating an environment and culture that enables the DPHS to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals, conveying the mission to all staff, holding staff accountable for performance, motivating staff to improve performance, recognizing and rewarding performance, and being responsible for the measurement, assessment and improvement of the DPHS? performance.
This position is accountable for ensuring that quality patient care is provided and that financial integrity and stability are maintained. The CEO ensures compliance with applicable Federal laws and regulations as well as all policies and procedures set forth by the Board and medical staff, and those required by Joint Commission standards.
The CEO must have the ability to build and develop relationships with community stakeholders in order to facilitate a greater understanding of the DPHS and how the organization complements the efforts of a healthy community.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Articulate a compelling vision advancing the organization and its role both locally and regionally as a respected care provider and nationally as a thought leader
Revise, update and implement the strategic plan to align budgets and resources with emerging priorities
Develop, maintain, and support a strong board of directors; seek and build board involvement with strategic directions for ongoing operations as well as future initiatives
Actively engage and energize staff, board members, volunteers
Partner with local officials, community leaders, health care providers and local, regional, state and federal agencies
Serve as an for the organization in a variety of venues
Management:
Lead, coach, develop, and retain senior management team and staff
Invest in staff development and human resource systems to provide a continuous learning and professional development environment
Develop and maintain effective systems to track progress and comply with regulations (e.g. HRSA related to FQHC), and regularly evaluate program components, in order to communicate progress to the board, funders, and other constituents
Ensure the stability and sustainability of the organization by pursuing and maintaining multiple revenue streams
Manage to operating goals and control operating expenses
Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial accounting and reporting
Fundraising and Communications
Participate in fundraising at all levels as required ? major gifts, corporate, foundation, etc.
Support the refinement of all aspects of communications ? from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand
Qualifications:
Required:
A minimum of a Bachelor?s degree in Business, Public Health, Healthcare Administration or related field
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare and/or non-profit administration; 5+ years at executive level
Utilization of and commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation and outcomes
Experience with federal entities, including HHS/HRSA, SAMHSA, HUD, VA, as well as their funding, grant and certification programs, including Medicaid, PCMH, etc.
Experience in negotiating contracts, Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) with community partners and other entities
Current knowledge of Joint Commission, state, and federal guidelines, regulations, and standards and the HRSA?s nineteen key health centers program requirements
Action-oriented and entrepreneurial spirit - demonstrated ability to create and leverage non-traditional revenue streams and partnerships to ensure financial stability of organization
Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, community leaders, volunteers, donors, and community partners
Preferred:
MBA, MPH, or similar advanced degree
Experience in FQHCs, free clinics and/or not-for-profit organizations
Demonstrated strong leadership and management success in community health center, clinics or other health care related environments related to complex health issue and indigent populations
Active participation role in professional associations ? NACHC, NAEH, VaVHCA, etc.
