Project Accountant Job Opening in Elkridge, Maryland - Affordable housing general contractor is actively seeking a full-time accounts payable/project accountant to join our team in Elkridge, Maryland. This position is responsible for the accounts payable and job costing functions for jobs assigned, acting as a liaison between accounting and the project manager(s); ensuring vendors and subcontractors are paid accurately and timely.
Responsibilities:
Daily review of accounting and e-mail inbox;
Enter supplier invoices in the system pending project manager approval;
Download/Upload monthly subcontractor requisitions for payment using a Microsoft Excel add-in;
Process and remit payments to subcontractors and vendors in accordance with contract terms;
Interact with subcontractors and vendors in a professional, courteous manner;
Full understanding of Timberline (Sage 300) AP and JC modules;
Interact with project managers in a professional manner;
Meet weekly with project teams to sort through open items/issues on current projects;
Generate job costing and other management reports on a monthly basis to provide meaningful input for project teams and management.
Qualifications:
Construction industry experience preferred;
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, functions, practices, and procedures within the construction field including cost coding and unit pricing, change orders, etc.;
At least 1 year experience in a similar position preferred;
Proficiency in software applications Timberline (Sage 300) and Procore a plus;
Must have prior experience with Microsoft Excel;
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and stay flexible, while meeting deadlines and goals;
Strong administrative and organizational skills;
Strong customer service and communication skills (written and verbal);
Ability to work well independently and process a large volume of mail, invoices, and inquiries.
