The Resident Resource Coordinator will support and enhance the collective impact work taking place with the Central Neighborhood?s Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) Network in Cleveland, Ohio. As the Resident Resource Coordinator, the VISTA member will help train and support resident ambassadors who are looking to increase their leadership capacity while improving access to healthy foods in their HEAL Network is a collaborative effort of Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc. with support of the Sister of Charity Foundation, local and state agencies, and community partners to have an impact on health, economic opportunities and the quality of life of Central residents. The mission of the network is to better align food access and health-oriented programming in schools, worksites, food outlets, and other community assets. The VISTA member will provide support to both partner institutions and community residents to support the mission of the HEAL Network, offer opportunities for collaboration, and enhance the delivery of healthy food access programs. The position is 40 hours per week with some evenings and weekends required.
The Volunteers in Service To America (VISTA) program is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty. VISTA members work to build the capacity of low-income communities and non-profits serving such communities. Members are considered volunteers and receive a monthly stipend and the following benefits:
Approximately $990/month stipend, with choice of $5,550 education award or $1,500 (pre-tax) cash stipend at the conclusion of service.
Free healthcare coverage (vision and pre-existing conditions not included; dental coverage is limited to emergencies)
Childcare subsidy: Up to $440/month stipend (per child under the age of 13)
Time off: 10 personal days, 10 sick days, and national holidays off
Essential Functions :
? Assess the capacity and community outreach needs of HEAL Network Institutions.
? Recruit residents and community members to serve as HEAL Ambassadors
? Coordinate communication between ambassadors and HEAL Network Institutions
? Support the development of resident-led projects that promote healthy eating and active living
? Coordinate and facilitate technical and soft skills development workshops for resident leaders to ensure that they are able to effectively engage with HEAL Network institutions.
? Provide resident ambassadors with support and connections to resources that will help them implement projects
? Research funding to support educational initiatives for HEAL programs in the Central and Kinsman neighborhoods.
? Complete monthly and bi-weekly VISTA reporting in addition to attending VISTA training
? Collect and enter data; track progress
? Other duties as assigned
