Job title : Purchasing Staff
Full / Part Time : Full-Time
Work Location : Newberry, South Carolina.
Role Purpose:
The position is responsible for applying the guidelines of company policies, procedures, controls, and objectives with a wide variety of suppliers to obtain products that meet company specifications.
Major Responsibilities:

Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
Prepare and process requisitions and POs for supplies and equipment.
Assist purchasing manager in managing the purchasing department?s budget
Review PO claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.
Assist purchasing manager in preparing reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
Manage materials inventory process, coordinating the planning and procurement of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies by creating and maintaining Bill of Materials (BOM), monthly work orders, and more to drive Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).
Manage E&O (end of life) components
with contract manufactures and source alternate supplies in joint efforts with engineers
Assist in preparing POs or bid requests.
Partner with Quality Control department to determine proper corrective actions against defective or unqualified goods or services.
Conduct annual physical inventory, and additional cycle counts as necessary to ensure system inventory accuracy
Assist in tracking and reporting KPIs to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
Assist in developing and maintaining positive supplier relationships.
Contact suppliers with requests for quotes (RFQ), delivery information, and cross-references.
Works with suppliers for improvement opportunities in terms of cost, quality, on-time delivery, and lead-time.
Perform continual market analysis and monitor supplier progress.
Assist in analyzing material requirements to ensure receiving goods/services on time.
Locate and maintain contact with material suppliers through visits, electronic communication and written correspondence.
Proactively manage commodities to ensure suppliers are meeting the requirements of the company.
Assist in resolving pricing and receiving discrepancies with suppliers.
Discuss defective or unqualified goods with quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the cause and take corrective action.
Perform all other duties as assigned or required.
Accountable for the quality of work.
Accurately and timely recording of information on specified documents.
Proper use and care of equipment and materials staged in workplace.

Background, Experience& Qualifications:
1-4 years of purchasing and/or inventory control, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to build and maintain rapport with all company departments and vendors
Strong problem-solving, strategic-thinking, and critical-analysis ability in resolving purchasing, inventory, and accounting issues
Proficiency in CRM software and spreadsheet preparation and analysis (Excel). Strong preference for candidates with Visual manufacturing software expertise.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Must be able to prioritize projects and recognize deficiencies in paperwork.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Extremely organized and detailed oriented with excellent follow-up
ERP system experience
MRP and Supply Chain knowledge
Proficient in PC applications to include: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
APICS, CPM, CPIM certification preferred.
