Credit Analyst Job Opening in Hattiesburg, Mississippi - Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include two plywood and four lumber manufacturing plants, and fourteen specialty wood product distribution operations, located in thirteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.

This position is responsible for managing credit and collections activities for an average of 1,400 customers, accounting for sales of $20-30M annually.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze credit data (including but not limited to credit applications and financial statements) to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit.
Make decisions to approve or deny the extension of credit up to $25,000 within set credit authority established by senior management and state/federal laws.
Establish credit limits for new customers.
Review credit limits for existing customers.
Approve credit orders when account is over limit or past due.
Apply payments to appropriate A/R detail accounts. Investigate and follow-up with any discrepancies.
Conduct collections activities for accounts receivable. Notify customers of delinquent accounts and amount past due. Make all reasonable attempts to collect account balances.
Build external and internal customer relationships. Ensure office cooperation with other departments, to maximize efficiency within the company.
Ensure proper documentation as it relates to customer and sales/use tax files.
Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree or other post-secondary coursework related to business, accounting, finance, etc. highly preferred.
We are looking for a candidate with 2-3 years of credit or accounting related experience with exposure to accounts receivable. Candidates must have general knowledge of credit/collections. Must be organized and have good communication and interpersonal skills. Must have computer skills and intermediate Excel spreadsheet experience.
Notary public certificate preferred.
