Front of House Manager Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - Job Title: Restaurant Manager
Reports to: Restaurant General Manager, and Ownership
Supports the Restaurant, through role model leadership and adhering to the Restaurant?s philosophies and culture at all times, which will in turn provide the proper leadership to achieve results with personnel management/training, financial results and operating systems. Responsible for the day to day operation (both FOH and BOH) of the Restaurant.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Performance :
Participates in the preparation of annual, quarterly and period budgets
Oversees and ensures compliance with all weekly financial controls
Audits all store financial systems while working hands on in the restaurant and makes corrections on the exceptions
Develops assigned FOH schedule(s) weekly to ensure adequate coverage and control budgeted and forecasted labor costs by department
Ensures the restaurant is accountable for successful execution of all operating systems (ordering, receiving, inventorying, etc.,) that impact the financial
Assists in auditing all food and beverage costs as required
Participates in weekly forecasting for the Restaurant to maintain costs and perform within budget
Operations :
Gives day to day operating advice on problems and develops corrective action plans with the team to prevent recurrence of problems
Ensures weekly operational goals are met
Adheres to, implements and trains a ?steps of service? protocol for all restaurant employees
Ensures compliance with operating plans and supervises all special and/or large private dining events
Ensures that the following programs are implemented and followed:
Sanitation
Alcohol Awareness
Maintenance
Guest Relationship Building
Food & Beverage Education
Participates in new manager training program
Participates in evaluating the quality, care, and morale of the staff and makes recommendations to upper management
Develops strong guest relations to create a more loyal customer base
Is an active part of the management team, which includes working opening, mid, and/or closing shifts
Management Staffing and Development :
Actively participates in weekly management meetings
Maintains fully staffed and properly trained personnel to operate the restaurant effectively
Participates in staff reviews and makes recommendations to management for either individual development programs or out counseling recommendations. Participates in recruiting and on boarding/training for new staff
Participates in the development review process
Ensures proper execution of all Human Resources functions (proper interviewing, hiring, documentation, termination, performance reviews, etc.)
Communication :
Effectively communicates to both the staff, management team, corporate management and ownership so there are ? no surprises ?
Effectively builds trust in the restaurant to give and receive beneficial feedback from the staff, management team, and owners
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 to 5 years as a successful Restaurant Manager
Must have demonstrated a solid track record of success in previous assignments through excellent communication, strong leadership skills, and through being a team player
Must be dependable, reliable, and highly motivated
Able to work ten hour plus shifts
Consistently able to obtain results through others
Culinary school background a plus
Ability to speak and understand Spanish a plus
High level organizational skills with multi-task capabilities a must. Ability to adapt to changing prioritized projects and manages work load with minimum direction. Attention to detail and follow through is critical to success in this position.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to staff, management and corporate
Able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time
Able to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $45,000.00 to $60,000.00 /year
