This is a key accounting position requiring discretion, accountability, independent thought, and analysis. The accountant reports directly to the Director of Finance and Administration. Attention to detail, timeliness, and accuracy are critical. This could be an ideal job for a bright, recent college graduate looking to develop his or her career. The scope of this job is broad, giving the successful candidate an opportunity to participate in many facets of the business.
Main Responsibilities
Post and close the general ledger and prepare monthly financial statements and reports
Analyze variances
Research opportunities for cost reduction
Analyze customer credit worthiness and assist with collections
Prepare payroll data
Back up other accounting functions as needed
Assist with human resource functions
Perform analyses using business management software and Microsoft Office tools.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Business (including at least 2 accounting courses) required.
Experience: At least one year preferred.
Competencies
Experience manipulating data and formulas in Excel
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Math proficiency
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to work independently
Ability to meet short deadlines
Familiarity with business operations
Highly motivated and enthusiastic
