Job Responsibilities:
Goose Creek Consulting is seeking an accountant to be a key member of our commercial, federal and consumer teams. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic and passionate accounting professional. They must also be proactive and willing and able to take on a variety of projects. The successful candidate should have 1-2 year(s) experience in financial accounting and will be able to professionally represent Goose Creek Consulting with external and internal partners. We are a small, tight-knit, growing business
Job Responsibilities:
Compiling data for and preparing financial reports, including income, expense, cash flow, balance sheet, asset, liability and capital account information
Analyzing financial information to support management in making corporate decisions related to staffing, new business development, investment and other matters
Documenting financial actions by entering accounting information, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other relevant data
Maintains accounting controls by preparing, recommending and implementing policies and procedures
Helps ensure compliance with contract, subcontract, federal, state and ethical requirements
Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documentation
Reconciles accounts and identifies and corrects discrepancies
Tracking inventory and fixed assets
Assist in the development of cost proposals
Manages the Accounts Payable process by being a part of the approval process for vendor invoices, paying vendor invoices, documenting payments and answering questions from vendors and internal stakeholders
Manages the Accounts Receivable process by invoicing federal and commercial customers, documenting payments and corresponding with consumers regarding payments and payment status
Supports the federal, state and local tax accounting process by compiling information, making payments and other duties as necessary
Manages the Payroll process by collating approved timesheets, processing payroll, payroll onboarding of new employees and answering questions
Manages the financial aspects of the Benefits process by tracking data, making payments and answering questions
Supports the preparation of budgets and forecasts
Keeps financial information of the company, vendors and customers confidential
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
A degree in accounting
1+ year(s) of experience in accounting
Attention to detail and accuracy
Experience and comfort with QuickBooks
Experience and comfort with Microsoft Excel
Understanding of cash and accrual accounting
Ability to multi-task
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Government contracting experience
Small business accounting experience
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $48,000.00 to $60,000.00 /year
