Non-profit Controller Job Opening in Arlington, Virginia - Established in October of 2014, the ECI is a strategic alliance between three longstanding and leading nonprofit organizations in the ethics and compliance field: the Ethics Research Center (ERC), a 501 (c) (3); the Ethics & Compliance Association (ECA), a 501 (c) (6); and the Ethics & Compliance Certification Institute (ECCI), a 501 (c) (3). The ECI seeks a Part-Time Controller to execute the day-to-day financial management and oversight of three separate companies, and in cooperation with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Part-time Chief Financial Officer(CFO), implement the appropriate policies, practices and compliance procedures necessary to mitigate financial risks. In addition, the a Part-time Controller will be responsible for ensuring that the organization?s financial statements and reports are accurate, organized and closed in a timely manner. This position will report to the COO and the Part-time CFO.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise bookkeeping including A/P and A/R and investments to complete in a timely and accurate manner.
Enter all payroll and benefits entries as appropriate.
Ensure accurate time tracking and allocations from a single payroll to three separate entities.
Ensure that the month end closing is completed on time and that the ECI Accounting System and financial reports are up-to-date and accurate.
Prepare and disseminate timely financial reports and analysis to the appropriate staff members and in preparation for board meetings.
Meet with executive management on a regular basis to discuss statements, financial management issues, cash flow and budgets.
Assist in the assembly of work papers related to one annual audit of three separate entities and prepare all audit materials.
Review and manage all vendors, contractors and customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of experience in non-profit accounting.
Experience in an organization made up of multiple entities with different tax status is a plus.
Ability to complete full charge bookkeeping responsibilities, to include AR, AP, Journal Entries and Monthly Reconciliations.
Knowledge related to the implementation and enforcement of financial controls, checks and balances.
Excellent written and verbal skills, to include an ability to write polite, grammatically correct communications.
Strong time management skills and ability to manage concurrent tasks efficiently.
Strong computer skills to include: Microsoft Office, Sage Accounting, Salesforce.
