Revenue Accounting Specialist Job Opening in Norfolk, Virginia - The Virginia Port Authority is seeking a Revenue Accounting Specialist to support the Billing and Collections departments of the Financial Services business unit.
Research and propose solutions to resolve outstanding disputes
Maintain files of the research and ultimate conclusions reached, including support for the conclusion
Research customer/contract issues to assist in evaluating appropriate solutions
Assist collections efforts by analyzing customer accounts
Perform other research/analysis as needed
Ensures compliance with all security, safety and environmental regulations and policies within work area at all times
All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
1 -2 years of work experience
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Attention to detail
Ability to read and understand contract terms/provisions
Ability to work cross-divisionally with other functional areas
Have sufficient organizational skills to prioritize work and report on progress
Demonstrated knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office at an intermediate level or beyond, with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or related discipline
3+ years of experience in related field
Experience in a corporate billing department or public accounting
Selected applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment background check which may include any of the following: Academic record and verification of education and/or certifications; Employment history (including references); Criminal history; Driving record; Fingerprinting; drug and alcohol testing, Other records or information related to the candidate's suitability for the position.
Selected applicant must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card).
