Accounting Clerk II Job Opening in Albuquerque, New mexico - New Mexico?s leading Workers? Compensation insurance carrier is searching for a talented professional to join our Finance department team.
New Mexico Mutual is seeking an Accounting Clerk with great analytical abilities and good organizational skills who will perform a variety of routine and some non-routine clerical/accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures. The position will be primarily responsible for the Accounts Payable function including invoice entry, posting, adjusting, processing and general ledger reconciliation.
Essential Functions:
Post invoices in Accounts Payable software ensuring allocation to proper expense classification
Research discrepancies and processes payments in accordance with company policies and internal controls, statutory accounting policies and external regulatory requirements
Review and process employee expense reports through the online reporting program
Reconcile and maintain required records for corporate credit cards and prepare journal entries as needed
Reconcile collections activity with system records§ Banking activities including, but not limited to, stop pays and check clearing
Preparation of various monthly journal entries as part of the month end closing process
Preparation and submission of year-end 1099's
Job Qualifications:
Education:
Associates Degree from accredited college or university in a related field
Experience:
3 to 4 years clerical accounting experience (bookkeeper, accounting clerk, accounts receivable/accounts payable)
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent communication skills with bother internal and external customers ?written, oral and inter-personal
Ability to work independently with a focus on accuracy and quality
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, handling frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
Ability to understand and interpret policies and regulations
Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.
Demonstrated proficiency in:
Knowledge of accounting systems and generally accepted accounting principals
MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Commercial accounts payable and general ledger software preferred
Web online banking experience preferred
Scanning software
