Temporary Distribution / Customer Service - PT 20-30 hrs per... Job Opening in Charleston, West virginia - JOB SUMMARY:
Provides services to support the Direct Operations office and customer base in a defined market or territory. This position encompasses a variety of tasks and functions related to: shipping and receiving as well as various customer service duties. Responsible for review of all customer purchase orders for accuracy, product information, and overall review. Involved in every facet of our business as it relates to sales, i.e., shipping, order entry, billing, credit, marketing, as well as all subdivisions of manufacturing and engineering, and information technology. Strong product knowledge and PC proficiency are a must. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team skills required as well as an eye for detail and strong organization skills. This position requires extensive communication between specialists, factory personnel, and end-users.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
SHIPPING :
Receive packing slip and identify items to be shipped.
Locate items by description and part number.
Verify items and documentation and stage.
Prepare box with appropriate labels and documentation.
Prepare appropriate shipping mode documentation and ship to customer, UPS, UPSND, TRUCK etc..
Record weight and address in log.
Total freight charges on invoice and give to Customer Service for billing.
RECEIVING :
Assist off-loading packaging to dock.
Take packages to receiving table. Remove packing slips and check contents for additional paperwork.
Identify and count each item, verify parts received and date stamp/initial.
Place received items for stock onto appropriate shelves.
Inspect Non Chesterton material for quality and correctness.
WAREHOUSE MAINTENANCE:
Maintain warehouse and light
Maintain clean working area and refuse.
INVENTORY CONTROL:
Maintain and monitor inventory stocked.
Assist in cycle counting process by providing inventory documentation.
Police materials consigned out of stock by specialists or technicians.
Make inventory adjustments.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Reviews all customer purchase orders for overall accuracy. Stamps confirmation and validates order prior to order entry process.
Edits orders received for price and nomenclature. Processes and expedites customer orders. Enters/records orders into on-line computer system according to customer purchase order requirements.
Communicates with and responds to customer inquiries via telephone, on-line networks, and mail.
Provides customers/end users with technical and product data and support. Provides quotes, special pricing, shipping, and other information as requested by customers.
Routes orders to departments for filling and follows up on orders to ensure delivery by specified dates.
Works with material planning to monitor inventory control and red flag orders that may deplete stock.
Prepares invoices and shipping documents as required.
Recommends type of packing or labeling needed on order.
Communicates with and responds to customers, end-users, and outside sales via telephone, on-line networks, and mail. Works closely with manufacturing groups to coordinate delivery schedules and meet customer requirements.
Manages, responds to, and investigates customer complaints. Adjusts complaints concerning billing or service rendered. When necessary refers complaints of service/product failures to appropriate department for
Procures outside vended items, including placing orders and negotiating pricing with outside vendors.
Creates BOM?s for the WV kit program for use in kit assembly.
COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:
Works independently.
Ability to plan and organize work to meet the demands of multiple internal and external customers.
Frequent and outside customer contacts.
Involved in multiple facets of the business. Interfaces with the local sales management, customer base and contacts at Chesterton in the following areas: Manufacturing, Engineering, Information Systems, Operations, Customer Service, Quality and all functional departments within the Chesterton organization.
Full use and application of product data, business and customer service principles.
Represents the organization and acts as an information source.
Interface with customer service staff, sales force, field technicians, end users and freight carriers as it relates to the shipping/ receiving process.
Must possess a high degree of organizational skills and attention to details
May be required to concentrate on inventory control and cycle counting principles to ensure accuracy and accounting of company assets

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Two years related experience preferred, including customer service, and/or business environments with proficiency in using a pc and office software programs.
1-3 years experience preferred including Warehousing, Shipping / Receiving, Inventory Control, Mechanical ability.
