Staff Accountant(Part Time-Temp) Job Opening in Norfolk, Virginia - SUMMARY Three years of non-profit accounting and financial reporting experience with a medium size company. Performs advanced financial functions; implementing fixed asset software; and special projects.**
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in Year End and other Regulatory Audits
Compile and prepare entries to general ledger accounts
Assist in quarterly and yearly financial reporting processes
Review contracts, orders and vouchers for accuracy based on established policies and procedures
Bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management
Communicate with other company personnel and contacts outside the company if necessary with limited supervision
Collect data and perform research on the details of transactions.
Perform special projects or other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance; from a 4 year Accredited College or University
A minimum of 3 years of related non-profit experience in: Accounting and Financial Reporting
Advanced QuickBooks and Excel skills.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must possess the ability to compose well-written financial analysis notes, polices and procedures and correspondences.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with staff, peers, vendors and consumers. This includes but is not limited to: proper spelling, punctuation and grammatically correct sentence structure that express occurrences in a concise and logical manner.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
FINANCIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The applicant should display a positive and proactive attitude, possess strong organizational skills, and maintains a high level of accuracy.
Must have knowledge of general accepted accounting principles and be proficient in Quick Books accounting software and MS Office.
Must be able to perform financial statement and balance sheet reviews, participate in month end close processes, and multitask with managing competing deadlines.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The ability to effectively communicate with employees, managers, vendors and bank representatives verbally and in written form.
The ability to operate a computerized bookkeeping system.
Additionally, must strong attention to detail and be a detail-oriented individual.
