Systems Engineer Job Opening in dallas, Texas - Systems Engineer Position Description Provides onsite Support as well as technical support via phone, email and web. For Vocollect's speech powered business solutions that are integrated into the customer's warehouse management system. System Engineers work closely with Management, Support Personnel and Associates at Wal-Mart on a daily basis in a variety of settings. Position Responsibilities Responsible for installations, training, documentation and assisting with all facets of Vocollect Technical Support including problem determination, incident tracking, incident escalation, trend analysis, disaster recovery, and supporting documentation. Project management, system design and high level systems testing in the customer environment. Travel to customer sites is required (up to 75% overnight travel) in and out of the Country. Work either a second or third shift and participate in a rotating on-call list in order to provide 24x7 Technical Support to the customer. On-call customer phone support after normal business hours including weekends and holidays is required periodically. Teach periodic classes to other Team members on technologies, new products and processes learned. Meet with other internal Vocollect teams to provide the customer's perspective on our products and services. Technical resource for other groups within Vocollect. (Product Mgmt, Marketing, Eng, etc) Assist in defining troubleshooting and testing procedures. Act as single point of contact for all issues pertaining to Vocollect�s speech powered systems, hardware or software, as well as problems related to the customer's local or wide area network and related infrastructure. This position may require participation in the integration testing process of customer target hardware/software configurations prior to field implementation. Document system problems for review and corrective action by internal QA and Systems Development groups. Work from a remote location/home office when not working in the field. Additional duties and responsibilities as defined by management Position Qualifications Education: BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Experience: Must possess at least 1 to 3 years hands-on technical experience where knowledge of networking fundamentals was demonstrated. This includes knowledge of TCP/IP, FTP, DHCP, Telnet, routing, and client/server computing as well as general troubleshooting concepts and related diagnostic and troubleshooting tools. Must obtain CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator) certification or equivalent work experience within first year of employment. On-site and remote customer support experience including experience managing multiple, complex projects from start to completion Skills and Competencies: Proven ability to manage projects and to prioritize workloads in a constantly changing work environment. Possess excellent written, verbal and strong presentation skills A self starter with an ability to work unsupervised An ability to effectively interface with all levels of the customer�s environment A professional appearance A high level of integrity Pluses: *Bilingual in Spanish & English �Posses a general knowledge of distribution logistics including case-picking, piece-picking, cross-docking, cycle-counting and similar related processes and applications used in a warehouse environment. �Beginning to intermediate knowledge of relational databases. �Beginning to intermediate knowledge of programming or scripting languages.
