Directional Drilling Locator Job Opening in Goddard, Kansas - Nowak Construction Co., Inc.?based in Goddard, KS 15 miles west of Wichita on Highway 400?is searching for a hardworking and reliable individual to join our team on a full-time basis. The main focus of the position will be aiding in the completion of horizontal directional drilling operations via locating the drill-head with a DigiTrak F5 Locator System. 1 year related working experience required.
All utilities must be flagged, bore profiles must be generated, filled out accurately, and then signed by an on-site customer representative before being submitted to the office immediately. Other duties from time to time may include: mixing drilling fluids, potholing, locating utilities, heavy equipment operation, cleaning equipment and restoring jobsites, assisting in the installation of waterlines, sanitary sewer systems, storm drainage systems, and other projects within the scope of utility construction.
Most work will be within the State of Kansas; however, travel to other work locations out of the area (such as to Colorado/Oklahoma) is mandatory on occasion.
DIRECTIONAL DRILLING LOCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Operation of a Digitrak F5 Locating System and Digitrak LWD computer software.
Accurate and timely completion of bore profiles and submittal of signed copies to the home office.
Jobsite and equipment preparation and setup.
Assistance with the completion of drilling operations after the pilot hole has been established (i.e. reaming/product pull-back).
Equipment inspection and maintenance.
Heavy equipment operation.
Assistance with other aspects of utility construction including but not limited to: hand-digging, pipe fusion, plowing cable, potholing, locating utilities, setting hand-holes and tie-ins, installing casing, installing manholes, etc.
Complying with all guidelines and safety standards at all times without exception during work hours, at work locations, and while operating or driving company property.
The timely submittal of all signed bore profiles, job documentation, and work related/company fuel receipts to the home office.
Proper storage and accounting of company property and vehicles.
DIRECTIONAL DRILLING LOCATOR REQUIREMENTS
At least 1 year of experience with a Digitrak F5 Locating System and its requisite software or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of underground utilities.
General knowledge of the basic operation of e-mail and Microsoft Office software.
Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds unassisted.
General knowledge of other aspects of directional drilling.
General knowledge of utility installation and potholing.
Ability to comply with and learn company policy.
Ability to comply with and learn equipment
Adherence to all safety guidelines for all crew members and the reporting of unsafe work practices to the foreman or, failing that, the foreman?s supervisor.
Acquire and maintain a valid Commercial Driver?s License (not required but strongly encouraged. Airbrake and tanker endorsement a plus).
Willingness to travel and stay away from home on short notice.
Willingness to work safely in adverse conditions within reason (i.e. rain, snow, heat, etc.).
Ability to read and comprehend construction plans and manuals.
Ability to traverse adverse environmental conditions with reasonable assistance (i.e. mud, hills, shallow water, stairs, etc.)
