Assistant Finance Director Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - POSITION FUNCTION:
Performs fiscal and accounting functions of the agency in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and written policies and procedures of the agency. Supervise daily operations of finance department as it relates to Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Contract Billing, General Ledger, Monthly Financial statements, and support other functions of the finance department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Safeguard the assets of the agency
Prepare or supervise all monthly billing for organization?s service contracts
Prepare or supervise semi-monthly payroll.
Prepare monthly financial statements for agency and individual cost centers by the 15th day of the month for the previous month?s activity.
Maintain subsidiary cash receipts ledger.
Prepare, obtain, review and post all routine and adjusting journal entries to general ledger.
Maintain chart of accounts and cost centers for agency.
Reconcile all bank accounts by the 10th day of the month for the previous month.
Monitor agency operating budget and report on variances.
Analyze/reconcile all balance sheet accounts quarterly..
Perform periodic compliance audits.
Prepare schedules for agency annual independent audit
Education and Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
Five years experience in the financial functions in a non-profit agency.
Two years supervisory experience.
Non-Profit experience (preferred)
Training and Skills
Knowledge of cost accounting, purchasing and payroll.
Computer literate on American Fundware (AFW), ADP Payroll System, MS Word, and Excel.
Can perform arithmetic calculations and computations and explain to all levels of staff.
