Job Title: Senior Accountant

Summary
The Senior Accountant works directly with the Director of Business Services. The Senior Accountant is responsible for verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling balance sheet accounts, payroll and accounts payable and receivable. Producing error-free accounting reports, analyzing financial information and summarizing financial status to the Director of Business Services. This is a year round (12 month) position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Financial Administration
Coordinate expense and revenue coding
Reconcile school?s authorized bank accounts
Preparation/Review monthly financial statements
Aid in preparing five year budget and budget projections
Prepare requested reconciliations and other data requests
Coordinate tracking of revenues and expenses related to activities
Preparation of/Review of all journal entries
Preparation of workpapers and in house lead for the annual fiscal audit and any site audits from State or Federal agencies
Accounts Payable
Review data entry of invoices in local finance system
System check run oversight
Accounts Receivable
Oversee Kids Club billing process
Review data entry of receipts in local finance system
Other
Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting guidelines throughout business office
Oversee year-end inventories and checklists
Verify all required documentation is obtained for procurement, vendor invoices, and deposits

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent in accounting.
Experience in school finance and/or non-profit auditing preferred but not required.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate 9-figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
Computer and technology skills enabling the incumbent to successfully complete the duties of this position are required, including strong Excel and spreadsheet experience and knowledge.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
License as a CPA or other relevant certification is preferred but not required.
